Kate Conyers is a public defender at Salt Lake Legal Defender Association where she currently practices as a felony attorney in West Jordan. She previously practiced commercial litigation at Snell & Wilmer and parental defense at Lokken & Associates. She graduated from the University of Utah with her JD/MPA in 2008.
Ms. Conyers serves as a Commissioner for the Third Division of the Utah State Bar and on the boards of the Women Lawyers of Utah (WLU), Salt Lake County Bar Association, and on the Leadership Advisory Board for the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. She has served as Past President of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD). Ms. Conyers has a long history of being involved in the community, including serving on the boards of Utah Minority Bar Association (UMBA), Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (UACDL), and And Justice For All’s Emerging Legal Leaders (ELL). She has created and developed many law-related programs, including most recently the Veterans Administration Legal Clinic and UMBA’s annual fundraiser.
In 2016, Ms. Conyers was awarded the Young Lawyer of the Year Award by the Utah State Bar. In 2014, Ms. Conyers received the Pro Bono Publico Young Lawyer of the Year Award and the Scott M. Matheson Award for the American Voter Project on behalf of YLD.
