Born and raised in Utah, Michael left to attend Seattle University and Seattle University School of Law. After graduating in 2012, Michael spent just under six years as a public defender in Benton County, Washington. For the first two years of his career, Michael practiced in the misdemeanor unit before being promoted to the felony unit, where he practiced for two years prior to being assigned to the homicide unit. Over his career, he has litigated cases ranging from minor in possession to attempted murder.
Always a student of the law, Michael was published in a lawyer magazine for his article on successfully suppressing confessions. Based on his research and writing, he gave a presentation to over 80 attorneys statewide detailing effective strategies for excluding client statements. He has also presented on topics such as defending DUIs, effectively negotiating with prosecutors, and state law updates and developments.
In his free time, Michael enjoys working out, the outdoors, and reading.
