Press Release on 402 Reductions in Salt Lake County

The Salt Lake Legal Defender Association commends the Salt Lake District Attorney’s Office for its progressive approach to criminal justice reform by identifying appropriate individuals for a reduction in their criminal convictions.  Many with prior criminal histories are denied housing, miss out on important educational opportunities, and cannot work in many professions.  This reduction of charges will be of great assistance to those who have paid their debt to society opening up previously denied opportunities to become full contributing members of our community.

The Salt Lake Legal Defender Association is committed to engaging community partners and state and county leaders to develop a shared vision for protecting individual rights and achieving better outcomes for clients.  The Legal Defender Association is proud to be a signatory on behalf of over 12,000 people who will have their criminal convictions reduced.
