C. Sue Crismon is a misdemeanor trial attorney with Salt Lake Legal Defender Association. Prior to working in criminal defense, Sue was the Director of Pro Bono Programs at Utah Legal Services for over five years. During her time at ULS she assisted in creating a statewide Pro Bono Commission and a pro bono management database in an effort to collaborate and expand services for low income Utahans. Sue graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in 2007 where she completed four internships with public interest organizations including the Youth Advocacy Project of the Public Defender’s Office in Boston, MA and the Legal Resources Centre in Grahamstown, South Africa. Sue is a member of the Pro Bono Commission, the Committee on Resources for Self-Represented Parties, the AAA Lawyer Referral Services Subcommittee, the Paralegal Practitioner Steering Committee, the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Watkiss-Sutherland II Inn of Court. She has presented at the ABA/NALDA Equal Justice Conference four times and has received the 2012 Committee of the Year Award, the 2012 Attorney Service Award, and the 2016 Young Lawyer of the Year Award for her work in pro bono policy.
