Andrea J. Garland is from Alaska, where she graduated as the “Outstanding Student of Economics” from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. She attended the University of Utah, College of Law, where she was the Executive Editor of the Journal of Contemporary Law and the cartoonist for the law student publication “The Neo Analyst.” Ms. Garland litigated civil rights and family law at the Utah Legal Clinic, where she had clerked during law school. She began working at Salt Lake Legal Defender Association in 1998. Her cases include drugs, sex, assault, fraud, kidnapping, theft, and homicide offenses. She has published book reviews and articles and presented CLE’s on criminal defense.
