Born in Salt Lake City and graduated from Olympus High. Brock attended undergraduate college at the University of San Francisco. He graduated from the University of San Francisco and received a Bachelors of Arts degree and two minors. The year after undergraduate school, Brock was a clerk for one of the largest law firms in the country. He worked on several cases, including defense of a class action lawsuit involving sex discrimination.
Brock began law school at the University of Utah in 1997. Work at Legal Defenders began in 1998 when he was hired as law clerk in the appellate division. During law school, Brock volunteered at the Salt Lake City homeless shelter’s legal aid clinic and Legal Defender’s misdemeanor division. He worked as a law clerk in the appellate division until being hired as a trial attorney in the fall of 2000. In 2002, Brock left the Legal Defenders and took a job with a private firm. In private practice, with another attorney, Brock successfully tried a Federal Civil rights case involving police brutality. Brock returned to Legal Defenders in 2004.
