Matthew Vanek

Matthew grew up in Pocatello, ID, where he graduated high school in 2004. He graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 2008 with a B.A., majoring in Business Leadership and minoring in Economics. After two years of work as a commercial construction recruiter, Matthew was accepted to the SJ Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah in 2010. He earned his J.D. from SJ Quinney in 2013. Upon graduation, Matthew worked for the Utah Governor’s Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office, conducting depositions of elderly and infirm witnesses who regularly used county roads in the state prior to 1976. SLLDA hired Matthew in March of 2015 as a trial attorney.

Matthew has worked various types of criminal cases, including serious felony charges. His trial experience includes over 30 jury trials, 25 of which he was the first chair defense attorney.
