Thomas Kelley

Tom Kelley is a trial attorney for the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association. He obtained his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2005. After graduating, Tom served as an engineer officer in the United States Army for five years and deployed twice to Iraq. In 2010, Tom moved to Utah and worked as a healthcare administrator for the Department of Veterans Affairs until 2015.

Beginning in 2015, Tom attended the S.J. Quinney College of Law. During his time in law school, he was the student director for the Veterans Legal Pro Bono Clinic and participated in an externship with the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center. He graduated from S.J. Quinney in 2018 with highest honors and obtained a criminal law certificate for his efforts during law school. After graduating, Tom was employed with the law firm of Fabian VanCott as an associate attorney, where he worked on numerous water rights and complex civil litigation cases. Tom joined the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association in 2019.
